Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation is partnering with the city of Sarasota, other regional municipalities, private philanthropists and foundations to build and operate what will be the performing arts centerpiece of Sarasota and the entire Gulf Coast region. The new performing arts center will be a public-private partnership in which the City of Sarasota and the Foundation will be the principal participants. Completing the project – construction, operations and programming – will require funding of more than $300 million, of which 50% is anticipated to be raised from philanthropic sources.

Job Overview and Position Objectives: 

The Foundation is seeking a hands-on Marketing Content Specialist and community builder to amplify our brand voice and elevate our social media content and community events. This person should have a passion for performing arts, social media, marketing, and events, and will drive content creation, community engagement, and day-to-day execution. They will be responsible for carrying out the social media strategy through editorial calendars, copywriting, and content development (including photography, video, graphics, GIFs, etc.).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Social Media:

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy with short-, medium-, and long-term goals, collaborating with the internal team to align with marketing objectives.

  • Facilitate the creation of a comprehensive monthly social media calendar that aligns with department goals and organizational objectives.

  • Create, schedule, and manage content for social media platforms, ensuring timely delivery of all campaign materials.

  • Design visually appealing images using tools like Canva and capture content at foundation events as needed to enhance social media engagement.

  • Monitor and analyze social media performance, providing insights to optimize content and report success metrics across platforms.

  • Stay current with new platforms, industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the social media strategy for maximum impact.

Copywriting:

  • Craft compelling and targeted copy for digital and print marketing materials, including social media posts, newsletters, email campaigns, website content, and advertisements.

  • Edit and proofread copy for clarity, grammar, and adherence to brand standards before publication or distribution.

  • Ensure brand consistency across all written content while tailoring messaging to different audience segments.

Design and Branding:

  • Create visually appealing graphics for social media, email campaigns, website content, and print materials that align with the brand's visual identity.

  • Update existing templates for presentations, newsletters, or social media posts with current information or imagery.

  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure consistency in brand aesthetics across all design elements, including fonts, colors, logos, and imagery.

Other Departmental Support:

  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to create and maintain event listings on Eventbrite.

  • Provide support in coordinating webinars or virtual events, including promotion, registration, and follow-up communications.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for other departments regarding social media content needs, helping to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to work and participate in a team atmosphere

  • Experience in events and marketing

  • Proficiency in social media platforms (Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok)

  • Experience with creating live streams on social media

  • Strong time management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, engaging, and grammatically correct copy for various mediums

  • Creativity and adaptability, with the ability to craft compelling stories or messaging that fit different tones and formats

  • Research skills: Capable of conducting thorough research on topics to create accurate, informed, and credible content.

  • Energetic and sociable personality

  • Proactive “can-do” attitude

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Sharepoint

  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings

  • Graphic design experience at a beginner to intermediate level required

  • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office

Minimum Requirements:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one to three years of related experience accomplished. Some weekend/night work is expected.

Position Status:

This is an exempt full-time position. Generally, the hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, for a 40-hour work week. The hours may be adjusted as required to ensure that the job is completed. This is a hybrid position with required on-site hours and the ability to work remotely, but is subject to change to full time on-site hours.
